Veterans presenting an American flag

Mrs. Henry's 5th & 6th Grade students recently had special guests attend their Social Studies classes.  These guests are all Veterans.  They spent the day with the students talking about the US and Arkansas flags.  During their visit they toured our campus and had lunch with the students.  The following is an email Mrs. Henry received about their visit:

"Good evening,

I have spent the past couple hours reporting to the State Department all the activities that have taken portions of my time starting the 18th of this month.  Long as it was, the most rewarding was the time we spent in your class last Friday;  we will forever be grateful.
We represent the Disabled American Veterans ( DAV ) from White County Chapter 41.  We operate as a non-profit organization so we don't have money to rent an office;  the County and City of Searcy say they don't have space available for us, so email or telephone is how we operate.  Our fundraising is used to help make whole disabled veterans and their families in our Service Area.  Often money isn't necessarily what they need;  sometimes claims work for the veteran, an odd job they can't get done, and once in a while just a visit.

The three men that you graciously allowed to come to your school were Gary Williams, one of our members, Jerry Yates, the Chapter 41 Adjutant, and myself James Mash the Chapter Commander."

We appreciate their service and their time educating our students.
