Bear Nation: I hope that everyone has enjoyed a great Spring Break, even if it was a little stranger than usual. WCC is very concerned regarding the families that have been impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic. We know that education is very important but the safety and welfare of your families is of greater importance. With that said, it is much more important that you take care of personal needs first and worry about the education secondarily. WCC wants to be able to serve the needs of our students, families, community, as well as our staff and faculty. We want to provide continued learning opportunities for our kids. We also understand that the stress on each family is significant at this time and some have lost income and are facing hardship during this uncertain time. Instruction - Students should currently have AMI packets 1-10 that need to be completed by this Friday, April 3rd. (Our website contains these packets if they have been misplaced) These completed packets can either be photographed and emailed to their respective teacher (email addresses are on our website, but most follow the pattern of first initial, last name@wcccsd.k12.ar.us, for example mine is dstanley@wccsd.k12.ar.us) or they can be given to bus/van drivers when they deliver lunches beginning next Monday, April 6th. Next week, April 6-10 we will be using online instruction for those that have connectivity to the internet. We have purchased portable hotspots for families that do not have wifi service in their household. We are hoping that these devices will arrive before this week is over and that we can get them distributed next week. Some remote areas might not have good enough cell service available even with the hotspots and we will have to adjust our delivery of instruction in those situations. We will also be working on a plan to disburse chromebooks to households that do not have a device for their child(ren) to use. Food Service - We began our food service delivery today and will continue to deliver this week at 11:00 with lunch for the current day and breakfast for the following day. Beginning on Monday, April 6th the delivery will only be twice per week. We will deliver Mondays for meals for Monday and Tuesday, and Wednesday for meals for Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday. Again the deliveries will begin at 11:00 from the school on those days. Please contact the school at 501-729-4292 if you have been overlooked by these deliveries. Look for innovative ways for you to help your children learn while at home. Some skill development could include cooking, fishing, journaling this pandemic, puzzles, board games, music, art, playing outside, working with tools, and this list could go on and on. Look for these ways to help your student grow in ways above and beyond the educational school work. Please find time to read to and with your kids. We have asked our teachers to limit their instructional time to no more than 30 minutes per each core subject per day to allow students time to not only complete their work but also to take advantage of some extra time at home for other activities. Please contact your teacher if you have any questions. We are practicing social distancing at the school and will have limited personnel on campus on any given day until the pandemic is over. The phones will be forwarded to our administrators during school hours beginning this Friday, April 3rd until the pandemic is over. Please call if you have questions and someone will get back with you as soon as possible to answer them for you. We have a fantastic staff/faculty that miss their kids so badly right now and look forward to the time we can be together again. Thank you for your patience and grace as we try and figure this thing out together. We LOVE your kids. Bear Pride will continue to be evident in this community even in the face of adversity. Students, make sure to take care of your emotional health during your time at home. When your emotions are high, learning is low. Go outside for some fresh air, send a happy message to your friends or teachers, post positive affirmations on social media, do random acts of kindness, or pick activities from the list below to practice some social emotional skills. Have a great day and GO BEARS 🐻 If you need anything, please email us and let us know what we can do to help! shill@wccsd.k12.ar.us- HS counselor klouks@wccsd.k12.ar.us- Elem counselor

Titus Windle is our featured 'Class of 2020' WCC senior. Titus has been at WCC for 7 1/2 years. Once Titus graduates he plans on saving up some money and then going to college. The most important thing Titus has learned while in high school is his social skills and work ethic. The advice Titus gives to students in school is that they need to focus on their GPA (grade point average) because it is important. Titus' favorite class is shop/band because they are both interactive classes. Titus' favorite drink is Fanta drinks and his favorite food is chicken. Titus is a visual and hands on learner but enjoys silence with no one around him while he is learning also. Titus' favorite book is 'The Dead' by Charlie Higson. Congratulations Titus!!

WCC students! If you are looking for reading material, don't forget about your e-cards! These will allow you to get right in to the White County Library system to read books online. You can also access hoopla and ADLC. To get there, you will need your card number and go to the WCC website https://www.wccsd.k12.ar.us/, click on menu, click library, and then High School Library. I have put a link on there for White County Libraries. Follow that link and you will find on the home page where to click to get to hoopla. If you are having trouble with your card, you can follow this link https://whitecountylibraries.booksys.net/opac/wcrls/ to request an online user card. Happy reading!

We were notified by Hardees that the Hardees locations on Race Street and at Love's truck stop are offering free sausage biscuits to school age children 18 and under from 5:00 A.M. until 2:00 P.M. daily until further notice. Wow! Thank you to Hardees for this wonderful service!
